But instead of looking upon this dreary fact as an impenetrable wall constructed to keep us from our calling, at Shaman, we see it as a filter to help us sort the "projects to pursue with passion" from all the other stuff out there.

Year after year, as new companies cut corners in order to produce a single work and never be seen again, it can be easy to forget what real costs are involved in a fully professional production:

Approximate Production Costs Fees/Wages 

Rehearsal Space  = $15 p/hr - $2400 total

Producer  = $877.74 p/week

Theatre Hire  = Up to $1200 per week

Director  = $877.74 p/week

Set & Costume  = between $1500 - $4000

2 Actors  = $877.74 p/week/actor

Lighting & Sound  = between $1000 - $5000

Box Office Fees  = from $1600

Publicity = $1500

4 Designers (Set, Costume, Lighting & Sound) = from $1500 fee, upwards

Advertising  = from $2000

Playwright  = $150 p/performance

Insurance  = $1000

Stage Manager  = $877.74 p/week
